Simultaneous single-quantum and triple-quantum filtered sodium images at 4T in vivo

چکیده
Introduction Sodium is the second most abundant MR sensitive nucleus in the human body. Its quadrupolar nature makes it sensitive to the local environment. Triple-quantum filtered (TQF) sodium imaging has been proposed as a method to distinguish intrafrom extra-cellular sodium (1, 2). Since the intracellular sodium is strongly linked to cell viability, it is of special interest. In this abstract a novel method is presented which increases the efficiency of a TQF sequence by interleaving the TQF preparation with a radial readout of ultra short echo time, thereby acquiring a single-quantum as well as a triple-quantum filtered image.

Electronic Properties of a Concentric Triple Quantum Nanoring
In this paper, we study the electronic properties of a concentric triple quantum ring using exact diagonalization technique. The energy spectra and magnetization for a single electron and two electrons, in the presence of an applied magnetic field, are calculated and discussed. It is shown that, for two-interacting electrons, the period of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations decreases to the half of tha...
متن کاملSingle and Triple Quantum Sodium MRI of Primary Human Brain Tumors
We demonstrate the use of triple quantum (TQ) filtered sodium MRI in a group of patients undergoing clinical evaluation for primary brain tumors. The TQ images were acquired using a twisted-projection readout in tandem with a three-pulse triple quantum filter. Our results demonstrate that TQ sodium MRI provides a source of contrast that it is not biased by the large sodium content of the extrac...
متن کاملOptimal choice of pulse phases in triple-quantum filtered sodium imaging in the presence of B0 inhomogeneities
Introduction For diagnostic purposes, in sodium (Na) MRI, the discrimination between free sodium ions and sodium ions restricted in their mobility is desirable. This restriction occurs if the sodium ions interact with macromolecular structures, i.e. in cartilage or in the intracellular compartment. One method to isolate the signal from such ions is triple-quantum filtered (TQF) sodium MRI [1,2]...

Objective(s): The field of nanotechnology is rapidly expanding .The development quantum dots quantum dot (QDs), show great promise for treatment and diagnosis of cancer and targeted drug delivery little data on the toxicity of QDs, especially for in vivo applications, are available. As a result, concerns exist over their toxicity for in vivo applications. Then, cytotoxic effects of cadmium sel...
متن کاملMultiple quantum filtered 23Na NMR in the Langendorff perfused mouse heart: Ratio of triple/double quantum filtered signals correlates with [Na]i
We investigate the potential of multiple quantum filtered (MQF) (23)Na NMR to probe intracellular [Na]i in the Langendorff perfused mouse heart. In the presence of Tm(DOTP) shift reagent the triple quantum filtered (TQF) signal originated largely from the intracellular sodium pool with a 32±6% contribution of the total TQF signal arising from extracellular sodium, whilst the rank 2 double-quant...
